Digital Angel patents implantable RFID microchips

Digital Angel has patented its 'Bio-Thermo' implantable RFID Microchips in the United States. These microchips can sense temperature and are reportedly the first RFID Microchip that can calculate an animal's body temperature.

These microchips have arrived in the market at an lucky time. They might find use in monitoring the bird-flu pandemic. Scientists can determine bird-flu cases by gauging the body temperature of birds. These 'BioThermo' chips can also be used to monitor temperatures in cats, dogs, livestock and horses among others. These chips are selling in UK, Japan, and South Africa.
