IBM Seeks to Standardize RFID

With the purpose of encouraging more and more consumers to adopt RFID technologies, IBM announced new tie ups with other vendors to market open standards-based RFID ecosystem. OATSystems, TrueDemand Software and MARCGlobal are the three RFID experts who will work together with IBM to work on applications that will run on IBM WebSphere middleware.

The new solutions are expected to help customers to develop and build  on demand businesses. Business houses of all sizes can automate their business processes and gain efficiency in asset management and customer service, using these new systems. The new applications will include OATSystems RFID applications, IBM's RFID for Work in Progress, IBM-enabled MARC RFID solutions, TrueDemand's EPC-enabled supply chain solutions and RFID 'Express' Solutions.

The solutions will be supported by Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) enabling business houses to integrate information with custom third party business process applications. IBM will inaugurate a new testing lab in North Carolina and will announce its new IBM Infoprint 6700 R40 complies with Gen 2 Standards.With the standardization of RFID technologies, IBM hopes it will be adopted on a large scale by the industry.marketwire.com reports:
