RFID and GPS usage set to increase

At present, both RFID and GPS do not have a strong presence in the corporate world. The number of companies that will implement this technology is set to increase from 10% and 23%, for RFID and GPS, respectively. The changes will occur as companies renew their wireless contracts.

According to a survey by Harris Interactive and ForceNine consulting, GPS and RFID are the most likely applications that may be implemented when wireless contracts are renegotiated. At present, GPS is used in the communications and transportation industry. The manufacturing industry has adopted RFID with reasonable success.
