IDC study on RFID in Western Europe

According to a recent study conducted by IDC, 12.4 % of the Western European manufacturing, wholesale and logistic sector companies were conducting pilot tests on RFID in 2005. Around 5.1 % of these companies have implemented it or are planning to implement it. The study also points out that RFID compliant applications and servers are the major areas that will be requiring investment. This particular statement is correct for process and discrete manufacturing. Areas such logistics management, distribution and warehousing will be impacted the most by RFID. It also studied the inhibitors for RFID adoption and one third of the companies said that ROI was the major reason for not adopting RFID.
