RFid technology to debut at 2006 World Cup soccer

RFid technology would be debuting at the 2006 World Cup soccer to be held in Germany.  The Federation Internationale Football Association which is organizing the event is ensuring that all tickets have an RFid chip. Electronic scanners have been installed by T-Systems to read the RFid chips in gates at the stadiums in Frankfurt and Dortmund. Even Siemens has installed the technology at a number of stadiums which includes the Allianz Arena in Munich. Scanning devices have been placed throughout the stadium to ensure authorized access to seating and refreshment areas. This technology could also be used to track hooligans at the gaming event.
