25 Million US Mobile Wallets by 2011

For quite some while now, experts and pundits have been touting payment capabilities of mobile phones. Now, a range of technologies, including RFID promise to make these tall claims a reality in near future.

According to an In-Stat consumer survey, the technologies that promise to enable mobile wallet capabilities in handsets include Near Field Communications (NFC), Radio Frequency (RFID), bar codes, and visual recognition. Moreover, the In-Stat survey reveals that NFS will narrowly beat out the likes of RFID as integrators will look to create standardized solutions that are easily exported anywhere in the world.
