DHS privacy office criticizes RFID technology

RFID technology most of the time generates debate for its security concerns. Although this technology is considered cost effective tool for the business world, yet the privacy advocates complain on RFID technology for its human identification ability. The Homeland Security Department's Privacy Office is also criticizing RFID technology on this ground.

The Emerging Applications and Technology Subcommittee of the Data Privacy and Integrity Advisory Committee of DHS have prepared the  report "The Use of RFID for Human Identification", which is likely to be commented on this month. The report vehemently criticizes the RFID technology. It reads that RFID devices can be used for human identification. The report will point out the negative aspects of RFID technology.
