Philips embeds RFID chips in World Cup tickets

Undeniably, the fans everywhere are enthusiastically waiting the 2006 FIFA World Cup, the biggest sporting event from June 9 to July 9 in Germany. As an official partner of the upcoming World Cup, Philips has made some special arrangements for the event. Philips will implement RFID technology for the safety and security of the fans. It has decided to fix Philips RFID chips in 3.2 million tickets. The RFID attached tickets will enable fans to enter into the venue's gates safely and quickly.

The RFID embedded tickets will foil illegal trading and verify the entry of a spectator with a counterfeit ticket.
