Savi's RFID technology to monitor temperature, humidity

Savi Technology claims that RFID technology can be utilized for temperature and humidity monitoring. The company's new sensor tags have the capacity to store 128 KB of memory storage for recording environmental status data.

Based on the data, the sensor tag alarms about the temperature or humidity change to a fixed or mobile RF reader.

David Kranzler, senior VP of Savi said, 'By alerting users to problematic environmental conditions when goods are moving through the supply chain, these new active RFID products reduce losses due to spoilage or damage'. Such kind of RFID solutions will enhance the shipment quality.

The RFID sensor tags developed by Savi can be kept on metal, plastic, wood or cardboard containers to assist processors routinely locate goods in the supply chain.
