RFID Anywhere

Sybase plans to target developers, system integrators, and independent software vendors with its RFID Anywhere platform version 2.0. The platform is intended to aid in RFID application development and management. In order to foster familiarity with the platform, Sybase has launched RFID Insider, which is an online resource that can be accessed for downloading the iAnywhere software and related educational matter. The platform manages the interfacing of the readers and printers. It provides an RFID simulator that enables code testing without having to buy tags and readers for the purpose.

Version 2.0 is compatible with multiple data protocols. It has a Data Protocol Processor that handles the translation of protocols for the tag formats and encodes and decodes the tag data. The hardware can be configured depending upon the device type and location by using the Enterprise Manager console. Version 2.0 has enhanced security features such as authentication against network-based directories.
