Gen 2 inlays from SmartCode will now be available at 7.5 cents per piece for order quantities of greater than one million. For order quantities of greater than 10 million, the inlay cost goes down to 7.2 cents per piece. The Gen 2 inlay is also referred to as SL-EPC-2630. SmartCode claims to have a manufacturing capacity of 10 billion SL-EPC-2630 inlays per annum and has an order from MSWAYCO, for a 100 million EPC tags. The Gen 2 inlay has a form factor of 4 inch by half inch in order to ease the migration from Gen 1 to Gen 2.
